I'm an Artist and Designer; my area of specialist expertise is in willow processional lanterns. These are giant willow structures covered in tissue and lit by candle from within. I deliver workshops, training and create huge focal point lanterns for various events. I also work in textiles, 3D and drawn media. Some of my work is collaborations with community groups, schools etc. I work from Blackmoss Studio in Marsden.

Wild About Wool
This is a project I've been involved with for many months, it has included; school workshops, community workshops, learning new craft skills, yarn bombing, preparing for 2 exhibitions and of course overseeing the development, growth and transformation of 'the woolly mill' from drawings to lantern to 3D textile.
The project culminated in an exhibition at Tolson Museum, it's still on! Well worth a visit.

Wild about wool also continues in weekly tuesday evening woolly craft sessions at the Watershed in Slawit.
Getting up to date
I'm going to try and fill in the gaps since last October! In the absence of a website this is the only place I can showcase my work so I'm going to make a conscious effort to keep up with it.

Carnival thoughts
I'm applying for a vacancy at the Deighton Carnival, it's got me thinking about the last time I created a Carnival super costume/puppet at the Huddersfield Caribbean Carnival back in 2003.
Created from an initial sketch by inspiring set designer Moira Benoit. The patchwork cover was a collaboration between children and parents at Springwood J & I and the amazing stitching of Delmara.
I made the framework, body parts, articulated trunk and tail, legs/sallapets and brought it all together into a working pantomime elephant (required 2 puppeteers.)
It was such a lovely collaborative project to work on and the kids loved following the elephant through the town centre.
I'd love to design a rainbow zebra, a flock (or wedge) of swans, a party of peacocks....!
Roll on sunshine, colour, music and taking over the streets!
